#Care Not Courts
The Center for Health Progress and a coalition of allied organizations are demanding that UCHealth stop suing people for medical debt. UCHealth, a nonprofit hospital, is required by law to provide sufficient discounted/free services and programs that support the wellbeing of our communities. Instead, their CEO is choosing to sue people to maximize profits from the care we need. That's why the Center for Health Progress organizing team in Denver launched Care Not Courts, a campaign to put a stop to the extractive practice of taking people to court over medical bills they can't afford. This is unethical and it's not the system we deserve.
More and more people–including UCHealth employees–are emerging to tell their stories of being sued for bills from care at a UCHealth facility. If you have been sent to collections or sued for medical debt, at UCHealth or at another hospital system in Colorado, share your story below!
