Music for the Movement Training, July 7th
Part I: Writing a Song for Change Can Be Easy, Fun, and a Group Effort
When: Saturday, July 7th, 2 pm - 4 pm
Where: Boulder Public Library, Boulder Creek Room, 1001 Arapahoe Ave
COST: Free. Donations to cover the cost of materials are welcome but not required.
PRESENTER-FACILITATOR: Matt Nicodemus, activist-songwriter since the 1980s and co-founder & director of the RMPJC Solidarity Singers
BRING: 1) Yourself, willing to sing, listen, create and join with fellow participants in creating; 2) Your change-making concerns, visions, goals, and strategies; 3) Any ideas you have for songs, including topics, lyrics, concepts, no matter how much developed; 4) Musical instruments; and 5) Recording device(s), to help you/us remember song lyrics and melodies. Anything you come with will be enough!
WHAT WE'LL DO:
** Sing some songs for change, as a group and, if you like, individually
** Learn and share about our experiences with music and songs for a better world
** See some different ways a song for change can come into the world
** Work individually and together to create one or more songs, or portions of songs
** Learn about local opportunities to create and share songs for change
PLEASE SIGN UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, SO WE'LL KNOW HOW MANY WILL BE ATTENDING AND CAN PREPARE A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF INFORMATION PACKETS.
