Plutonium in Dust at Rocky Flats

A windy day just east (downwind) of Rocky Flats

LeRoy Moore's January 2010 op-ed called "Playing with Plutonium  at Rocky Flats" led to a very revealing exchange with those who believe there's no danger from the plutonium remaining in the environment at Rocky Flats. Read on.

Plutonium is a man-made

Plutonium is a man-made element that gives out negative effects if exposed to the environment. It is an inevitable byproduct of any nuclear reactor fueled with uranium. As I was browsing through the net for the upcoming Oscar Nominations, I came across an article that says there are other reasons to fear a widespread plutonium economy, for plutonium is deadly in more ways than one. A person who inhales just a few milligrams of plutonium (a barely visible speck) will die in a matter of months due to massive fibrosis of the lungs as delicate lung tissues, bombarded by alpha radiation, develop scar tissue, choking off oxygen to the blood. Death follows from a kind of internal asphyxiation. So, let's clean this place up.
