Test respirable dust for plutonium at Rocky Flats Wildlife Refuge
This op-ed, published on June 11, 2009, calls on the US Fish and Wildlife Service to commission the sampling of respirable dust at the Rocky Flats Wildlife Refuge and to have the samples analyzed for plutonium content. This kind of sampling, which has never been done at the Rocky Flats site, would provide empirical evidence of the presence of plutonium in breathable dust, its most dangerous form from a public health perspective. This sampling should occur before Fish and Wildlife open the wildlife refuge for public recreation.
